4 speed tranny ???
I think this is a car 4 speed, right? anybody tell me more about it?

I cant help you with the numbers, but its a saginaw trans(car). camaro had a 2.52 1 st ratio(wide ratio box), & some vega/ monza had a 3.11, or 3.50 1 st gear. They arent a bad box, & will take a little abuse....but not like a Muncie or Borg warner. Good luck,crazyL

It's hard to tell for sure without a picture of the side plate but it does look to be a saginaw. Judging from the tailshaft it's from a 81-82 camaro/firebird. I'm running a similar gearbox in my truck. I recently overhauled it. The master rebuild kit cost what I thought was a very reasonable $110 and included all of the bearings, synchronizers, seals, gaskets, and other misc. peices. It really works great now. If you have a three speed in your truck this trans will bolt right in. It's identical in length so no driveshaft modifications are needed. I have a Hurst shifter on mine. They make a linkage kit for our trucks which relocates the shifter further forward on the tranny. It's a really easy swap. I installed mine in an afternoon.

jhwksn can you tell me more about the truck shifter. i just put a saginaw in my 69 and made a bracket and lengthened the rods for the camaro shifter. it works fine but the shifter isnt the best. where did you get your hurst shifter? thanks, Ben

Thanks for the info, I just sold a 69SWB to a guy in Canada and he wants a this tranny to put in that truck, at least now I can give him some info.
