Help: 1974 Full time 4x4
Help me understand about 4x4 full time in a 1974 Blazer.
Does it really hurt the mileage when it's full time. Anything you all could tell me would help.Did all 73 thru 75 have full time? I'm looking at a 74 Blazer now but I need some expert opinions. Thanks |

Re: Help: 1974 Full time 4x4
Full time 4x4 does reduce mileage and increase tire wear. It's no big deal to install a part time kit and manual lockout hubs. The square body 4x4 light truck line with automatic transmission had the full time up through 1979.

Re: Help: 1974 Full time 4x4
They can be bought from most any 4x4 parts place, Summit Racing, and some auto parts stores. I have always used the kits with complete shaft replacement for myself,(best for serious wheeling), but have installed some of the spider gear kits for others. Mile Marker is a common choice for these nowadays.
