Possible to Tub out a Wood Floor Fleet Side - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just thinking I can do anything I want right know just wondering how hard it could be to tub out the box just a bit. I am thinking of getting another set of tubs and slicing them and adding about 2" or so.I have not assembled the box yet so I dont have any idea what a original wood floor even looks like. My truck did not come with a box. Do any of you guys know how wide of a tire I can run witha leaf sprung rear ?

Buy an 8 foot length of 18 gauge cold roll about 8 inches wide or whatever width you want to tub and slice your wheelhouses in half between the boltholes and butt/stich weld it back together. Don't know on leaf springs but I know narrowing the frame, boxing the inner wheel lip straight up and adding a 4 link you can go with 16 wide welds and 18 wide m&h with 4 1/2" backset and still change the tire with the jack under the rearend instead of the frame.
