Could someone please tell me where the MAP sensor is supposed to be mounted on my 87' V10 with a 5.7? Right now, it's just hanging on the right side, laying on the valve cover. I can't find anything in reference to how it's supposed to be mounted online, and I don't see any sort of a bracket for mine. It's hooked up and the hose is running into it, but not attached to anything. If someone could please provide a picture of theirs mounted, that would be great. I'm really stumped on this one. Thanks

Looks like you are missing a mounting bracket - there should be a combination bracket on the passenger side of the intake manifold that provided mount point for ESC, EGR solenoid and MAP sensor. Alternatively, you can mount MAP sensor on the firewall provided that intake vacuum port is facing downwards.

Is there anyone that could please provide me with a picture of their MAP sensor mounted with the air cleaner off so I can figure this thing out? I have the bracket on the passenger side intake, but for the life of me can't figure out how it mounts and what holds it on. I know it's small thing, but I really want to get it off my valve cover and mounted correctly. Just a picture and a note letting me know if it's bolted, clipped, etc. is all I need. Thanks in advance!

OK - you asked for it. From my JY bin to your screen.

MAP sensor is mounted with a pair sheet metal screws (look like #10 sheet metal with hex head??) on the right side of the bracket. The green connector insert is vertically oriented in this photo. ESC module is forward mounted on the left side. MAP vacuum inlet port is clearly visible in this photo (with a rusty looking halo).

Awesome! Thanks so much for taking the time to take the pic and posting it. That makes total sense now that I can see how it's supposed to mount. Gotta say though, I never would have that it went on that way. I really appreciate it. Have a good holiday weekend!

The bracket that contains the map sensor also contains the EST module and another device that has a tube from the EGR and a tube from the back side of the TBI unit. It has an adjuster screw inside of an air filter. What is this part??
I have had a lopeing problem with this truck since I've had it. The emissions control stuff has been removed by the PO.
Replaced several different items, The IAC valve, o2 sensor, knock sensor, fuel pump relay, thermostat, ignition control module, ignition coil, MAP sensor and generator, cap and rotor. The EGR valve holds vacume and it has new, correctly gapped plugs. All the vacuum/coolant hoses have been replaced in the last year.

I also replaced the one way check valve on the drivers side of the engine. Then I happened to unplug the MAP sensor and Viola my lopeing problem vanished. With the Map sensor plugged in it barely wants run.
The ECM has always had a code 44(lean exhaust) I have been able to eliminate other codes by replacing the parts that I stated above.
