New Member Highlander questions?

First of all I would like to introduce myself my name is Luis. I stumbled across this wonderful forumn a couple of years ago when I was Googling info about my truck. This forumn has tought me alot! I had been wanting to post my first thread for a while now but I'm not to good with the computer(besides surfing the web) so hopefully when my wife helps me I will post some pics. About two years ago I purchased 72 custom/10 deluxe to replace the 69 swb that I sold about 7 years ago when I got married! Man I wish I would have never done that! (sell the truck). So I got the 72 it is a lwb original truck Hugger orange and white with a 350/350 factory A/C (missing compressor) power steering ,brakes, tilt( which P.O. replaced with non tilt, don't know why!) I already purchased a van tilt so I guess I will be contacting Kevsclassic to convert it soon. A couple of days ago I saw a thread from driller 35 that he was asking about the wood trim mouldings, then member Classic Bowties brought up the subject of the Highlander trim package then I realized that my truck has the highlander package. I would like to know if this is a rare truck which I should restore to original condition or is it just another run of the mill truck? I purchased A swb truck for the frame and bed to make the 72 swb when I restore it. I was also planning on putting the Cheyenne trim with the houndstooth seat covers. I was also wondering if anyone knows if they sell the Highlander seat cover because I have never seen it in the aftermarket world and finding an original is probably impossible. My original highlander seat covers which I didn't know where kinda rare are long gone! That was one of the first things I changed on the truck because they were torn up pretty bad. I replaced them with a factory black one that I got from a guy in town that never used it for his resto. Well hopefully I will post some pics. soon thanks Luis Oh Yea I would also like to send out a big shout out to Big AL 71 which I met a couple of weeks ago at the local cruise night. He is a real nice guy and his truck even BadA$$ in real life that thing is sweet!

If you have a bench seat this is the cover you are looking for.

Check out my thread on it. I still have this seatcover.

Re: New Member Highlander questions?

Highlanders are by no means "rare" but they are very cool and well liked by many.

As far as the covers, you can still get the plad inserts and you can buy a parchment/white seat cover and have the plad inserts put in. The difficult part will be the center highlander scroll. Nobody reproduces it as far as I know.

Hi Luis. That was a smart move clearing that up since you wife needs to help you with the computer.

About Big Al...how much did he pay you to say nice things?

That`s a great looking color combination, especially on a Highlander.Have you seen`72 Highlander`s from TX?He even wanted to convert his to shortbed when he bought it.But,he decided he liked it just fine. It`s still in good original paint. My take on your truck is,do what you like but keep it "all Highlander".That will set it off from most others and afterall...it is what it is still.

Re: New Member Highlander questions?

Thanks guys for the help now at least I know that the inserts are available. Was the scroll design on the center section different on the highlander than the regular seat cover? Man I shoulden't have thrown mine away because the center section was not bad but I didn't realize that they where kinda rare. also did any highlander trucks come with the wood trim on the guage cluster or the door panels? I really like the wood because it goes good with the outside trim and the wood bed that I was planning on intalling. Thanxs again Luis

Thanks Fine69, Your right it is orange but there's nothing wrong with my computer, there's something wrong with my eyes, I guess I needed some sleep or something ha ha! I will keep you in mind if I decide on sticking to the highlander theme. Thanx Luis
