700R4 Trans
Do any of you guys have a 700R4 trans in your truck? If so what kind of tranny crossmember did you use?

Re: 700R4 Trans
I'm running a 700r4, don't have the x-member yet, but will go with Chassis Engineering Inc.'s. I like their price, and have heard good things about their service/products.

Re: 700R4 Trans
I out a 700R4 in my dad's...I don't think you will need to modify the floor, but we went with a aftermarket kit. I used a tubular cross member from Progressive. Take a look at my build thread towards the last few pages.

Re: 700R4 Trans
You don't need to mod the floor. I've heard of guys mounting the engine/trans higher in their trucks to allow clearance for the steering components (less u-joints etc) in which case you would need to mod the floor.

Re: 700R4 Trans
we didnt have to do anything cab wise to make the trans fit. were using a 77 el camino subframe and it sits everything nice and deep down in there.
crossmember was just a basic bolt in universal trans crossmember from brothers.

Re: 700R4 Trans
I was looking at the Brother's one myself. Is it really just a "bolt in" or did you have to modífy it? How's the pinion angle?

Re: 700R4 Trans
Unless they've changed their design since I got mine, the center tube part is separate from the two ends so it adapts to your set pinion angle. You fit it as needed bolting the brackets to the frame, tackweld the tube to the sleeve on the brackets in the position needed, remove and weld the whole thing.
