Catyletic converter pellets
The plug in my cat converter fell out and the pellets fell out also. Is it necessary to put all the pellets back or can you run the cat without them? What are the consequences? Thanks

Re: Catyletic converter pellets
you can run it without the pellets but when i did that(pulled the plug on purpose) i couldnt get the plug to stay in and it sounded terrible. ended up having a shop put on a new style high flow cat. it wont hurt anything to run it like that though.

Re: Catyletic converter pellets
Without the pellets it's effectively "not a converter" anymore. If you need the cat to pass smog tests, have a high flow replacement welded in. Otherwise, replace the plug and enjoy the free flowing exhaust.

Re: Catyletic converter pellets
The less pellets the less effective it is (catalyst). The new 3 way monolith cats are better.
