Spindle Identification

Is there a way to check the numbers on a spindle to see what year it's from??

i bought a whole frontend with disk brakes a few years back from a member on here and forgot what year it came off of.

im looking to replace the bearings, rotors, calipers, hardware but i need the year to get the correct parts for it. it does have a 5 x 4 3/4 bolt pattern 12" rotor and the thickness of the rotor is 1 1/4". if that helps any!! also how do you check to see if its a heavy duty setup?

If it has rubber bushings on the a-arms,... it's at least a '73-up version.

If it's a 12" x 1 1/4" it is the HD rotor/caliper. It's going to be 82 up.

went and took some pictures and remeasured just to clarify

the bolt pattern is 5 x 4 3/4" , rotor Dia. is at 11 7/8" and thickness is 1 1/4
as far as the bushing goes the spindles were on 67 72 style a-arms so im wondering if these were PO swap to disk brakes from oem drumbrakes

just wished i knew what the bearing numbers were. the old ones have no markings on them!!

That's a 5x5 rotor. You are measuring it incorrectly. (It's the diameter of the bolt circle)

It's the standard HD 1-1/4" rotor.
Standard non-drop spindle.
I would use 1973 as the "year" when purchasing parts.
They seem to be a little cheaper than the 2-year only, 71-72 parts.

Ok now i see what i did wrong!! you measure center of one stud to the O.D. or back of the other. thanks for correcting me
