1960 Automatic Conversion

I am converting my 60 short fleet from a 4 spd manual to a 700R4 auto. I found a steering column and pedal assembly from a 64 GMC and I have a few questions. Is there anything else I need? My shifter is missing from the column and does anybody know if the shifter from a newer column will work? Or does somebody reproduce this? I would also like a picture of how the linkage is setup from the factory. I assume i will have to make some sort of bracket off the frame for it to pivot on like the 67-72's have. Thanks.

When you say shifter, are you talking handle or the whole thing. I just changed my column today and have leftover parts including linkage from a 83 pickup.I used a linkage kit from CPP #CPTSL that fits th350-400-700R4 and paid $32 + ship. Everything worked except I bought a longer rod from a metal shop and cut to length. Hope this helps

Re: 1960 Automatic Conversion

I need the shifter handle that goes on the column itself.

Re: 1960 Automatic Conversion

Does the shifter linkage come off the column and go right to the transmission or is there a cantilever mounted to the frame that I need to fabricate? Anybody have pictures of their setup? Whether it be a 700R4 a TH350 or a Powerglide.
