Well you already said you thought Bowtie Overdrives was a little pricey. But I have a stage 2 700R4 and am really happy with it. I did the install myself. Customer services is pretty good as I have called a few times about swapping over to TPI from a carbed SBC.
I did have a problem with their converter. I ballooned one behind a very mild 350. Have since swapped it over to an Edge converter, no problems so far. The TV made easy kit works well and you can get mild to firm shifts with it. Aside from the converter issue I've been pleased with the tranny and service.
