how low can you lower these trucks....
How low can you lower your truck & still be able to use it as a truck? I want to lower my truck but I also want to be able to haul things in the bed from time to time. Is it something where you have to pick one or the other or can you have a little of both worlds? I have a 69' 1/2 LWB if that makes any difference.

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
depends if you go static drop or air ride. and it will also depend on the total weight of the load, if you have auxillary springs, if your frame is notched.....
there are many combinations.

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
Check www.earlyclassic.com website. They have pix of customers trucks. Used to be one on there that had a "substantial" load in the bed of it, i.e., it was used like it they wanted to use it, in spite of the lowering. I have a 2.5/4 drop on mine and it hauled what I wanted to .....but it's disassembled for a re-do.

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
bag it,slam it, and drive it
it's sitting on the shocks here and with the new shocks it dropped about another 1/1.5 inches....it will lay header pipes and the X will be about 1.5 inch off the ground |

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
The only problem with bagging it is it takes up bed space.

Depending on how it's done & how low you want it to go.
I had rear bags on my 68 & everything was mounted under the bed floor. It used every last mm of the bolt-in c-notch if air'd out but could still pull an 18ft car trailer loaded w/another swb truck.

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
NOT 1 INCH and it's not expecive I could bag a truck for under ( $70 per bag plus a little line) $300 with a notch
less if you can find some used bags

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
im 4" - 6" static and still haul a quad and tow a boat no problem. imo occasionally hitting the bumpstops isnt a problem. fronts sit on bumpstops, less body roll.

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
x2 for bag it and use it as a truck still. I didn't lose any bed space, either.

Re: how low can you lower these trucks....
ill be bagging mine but not lowering it much. im doing it for ride quality, to air dump it when its parked, and load handeling.
with the gauge set and a split front rear system you pump the back up to handle any load cap that the bag will. |
