??what are these wheels from??

somebody left these by the dumpster at my shop
16" x 6", anybody know what they are from?
looks late 30's or 40's to me

They certainly appear to be GM, either GMC or Chevy. The lug nut area, hub cap clips and hub cap mounting surface all appear to be stock 1940-50ish, but I've never seen one with 8 points of contact with the rim before. My guess would be these were optional heavy duty rims from that period, or perhaps from a military application. In searching 36-49 Chevy truck pictures, there's one 1946 that appears to have this same wheel on the rear, but it is so small and blurry it's impossible to confirm.

I believe they are 47-55 first series 1/2 tons like the ones I have on my projo - "Cleve"
