454BB forged internals, custom roller cam, AFR heads, F1R intercooled Procharger (15lbs. to start)...TKO 600 through McCleod Street twin to a Strange/Currie 9 1/4" w/detroit locker.

Yes, its actually a Cheyanne package 2wd Jimmy. Weve had it for 18 years.... my son drove it all through his high school years and then it sat in the barn for several more years until I finally talked him out of it. Before anyone gets upset, let me say that I havnt even notched the frame and all the mods are reversable. We have tried to keep it looking pretty stock except for the mags and a 4/6 drop. (oh, and there are some flush vents in the hood to let the hot air out) All the wood trim and emblems... even the on the front of the hood are going back on... as well as its original color scheme.

I dont understand... other than some minor boxing where the roll cage attachs there are no mods to the frame (well, very few) The roll cage was put in by my buddy and I for safety and to help eliminate twist. Although you dont see it in this picture, it goes from the very back of the frame to the front with removable swing outs in the doors, Ive just left the front off for now to give me space to facilitate installing the wiring and air.

For not understanding my question you sure answered it well...


I was asking how you went about controlling all the torque being these frames were 'designed' to twist right from the factory.


I hadn't seen the extent of your cage...sorry.

Those are Jeff Johnston's fabbed aluminum... We had them ball mill in the GMC and then painted them... the GMC is painted candy orange ... you cant really see it in my picture... it looks way better in person I think. And yes, they make several small block covers and can mill in whatever you want I think.

Tom, if you don't mind answering, what motor mount/ tower set up did you go with, and what headers did you use. I am in the process of converting my Blazer to a 2WD 454 powered ride, but am looking for answers on those parts.

The engine mount/ towers are stock 72 2wd BB towers with Energy Suspension Polyeurothane.
The headers are from Lemons Headers (805) 239-8998... they are full length long tubes that have the collectors up high (level with the inside of the frame) so the exhaust wont hit the pavement.
