I am running the same heads on my 307 but im running a 268/278 cam. I love the combo. One suggestion though. you can find the heads alot cheaper on a used vortec motor or craigslist. I see them all the time. You wont be disappointed with it if your just looking for some more torque and power on a budget.

I see a problem depending on your pistons, too much dynamic compression. With flatops (like my motor, was originally 8.5:1 with flat tops and 76cc chambers) you will make about 10:1 compression with .025 clearance dith and a .015 steel shim gasket for a perfect .040 quench height. You might be able to get away with it depending on cooling and how hot the intake air is (cowl hood etc.). I'm never lucky so if I were you i'd go with a Lunati voodoo 262 or 268 to bleed off some compression. Rattling no es bueno. You plan on running 91-94 octane correct?
edit: didn't see that you're already running it. It should make great torque with thsat small of a cam and all that compression. What's the problem?

the bottom end is stock factory stuff with 58k miles on it.. just not making the power it should.

What manifold, carb, and exhaust? Is the cam installed at 0 degrees? Have you played with ignition timing?

i am strongly thinking it timing, but this truck has always been a dog...no torque.

i was just trying to rule out a problem with this head cam combo

Do a compression check and check the timing before you spend any money

I thought my truck considering it's torque peak is at 2400 rpm and makes 300 or so ft/lbs, a decent amount. Then I added 10 degrees of timing, form an original starting point of 12 INDICATED to 22. My balancer must have slipped because my motor has 160-170 psi on all cylinders and runs 87 with the a/c on and passebgers w/o rattling in 100 degree heat. It was soggy down low before for sure. Are you running an hei? The stock hei mechanical advance curves are lazy and don't advance soon enough. An aftermarket kit for this is like 8$, I need one for sure. This will help to perk it up

ya i have the kit, tried all the springs lol.. i have no power towing at highway speeds too.. just a strange problem, has several people stumped.

what about the HO 305 heads? i have heard they work good on a 307. i picked up a set for mine,and wonder what to expect.
