2001 gmc lift kit??????????????/

i just bought a bada** 2001 gmc sierra a couple weeks ago. its got the rancho add-a-leaf in rear and torsion keys in front with 305-70-16 tires, so its got a little taller stance. but i want to put in atleast a 4" maybe a 6" lift. got any suggestions on name brands. i called my local MPE and i can get a 4" rancho with the RSX shocks for $1,900.00. and have found 6" Rough Country for $999.99

COULD I GET SOME PICS OF 99-02 BODY STYLE TRUCKS WITH LIFTS IN THEM, THANK YOU.

i prefure fabtech, ive installed many of them and everything fits really nice.

nice trucks. i still gotto get some pics of mine on here. were they pretty straight forward to install? i have buddy that did a 4" Rancho in his '98 chevy. he said that if i have any problems he'll help me. got and pointers before i start shopping or therefore installing? what size rims and tires should i run with a 6" lift. what backspacing?

the lift i'm kinda looking at has blocks, not springs in rear. that ok, you think?

yes it a very easy install, the hardest part is cutting off the mount on the front differantal(i cant spell). rear blocks are just fine, the fabtech kit comes with blocks and add-a-leafs. 35s fit very nice but i cant think of the backspace that you need, its been awhile.

anyway getting back onto the lift kit subject. i don't know if you can tell or not, but there are torsion keys up front and add-a-leafs in the rear with 305-70-16 tires. i think i might get the Rough Country kit i was talkin about but then get the Rancho RSX shocks if i can get them for a 6" lift. would that work you think?

You may want to look in to a solid axle swap if you want to take it off road.

I would suggest a Superlift 6" kit, I sold them for 6 years and never had a problem, I wouldnt waste the time on the 4" kit, same cost/parts involved as the 6" and can only clear 33's safely (on the 4") you can go 35's on the 6". Also the Fabtech kit widens the front track width (which I hate the look of) and requires large offset/backspace to clear the spindles. I would check out the specs and specifics before doing anything. The solid axle route would be nice as well, but if you do a leaf spring front you will lose some ride quality, 4-link coil-over setups are nice, but pricey

It depends your budget and how you really will use the truck which way to go with it.

its not going to be used off road. just for looks. i'm thinkin about the rough country 6".

Here is my 2001 with a 6" skyjacker lift kit. I wouldn't recommend going with the skyjacker kit. If I was going to lift another truck that has IFS I would put a straight axle under it.

got a couple stupid questions for you.
what size rims and tires you runnin?
what is IFS?

I will let Sandau answer on the tires (but I would guess 35x12.50x16" from the pic) IFS stands for Independent Front Suspension and is considered inferior to the traditional solid axle (like your rear axle, only with the ability to turn LOL) Your truck uses upper and lower contol arms (just like a 2wd truck) with the torsion bars (your "springs") keying into the LCA's to provide the "suspension" The inferior part refers primarily to the CV axles, which have a tendenecy to explode when over-powered/over-angled/over-traveled or bound up.... Hope this helps

P.S. The Rough Country s**t scares the S**T out of me, the price alone should scare you away, IFS lift kits are complex and your suspension should not be taken lightly, the Superlift kit is designed/tested/warrantied to ensure your safety.... I also remember this quote: "Superlift also uses progressive (read specific) front bump stops to combat diving under braking and loss of ride height over time due to torsion bar fatigue" Cant tell I was a salesperson!
