Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
Well, I've owned the truck for two years now and have just washed it for the first time. Call me lazy, call me what you will haha. I think it looks way better now! I just always figured it looked rough already with all the paint missing, why bother and wash it?
I took some halfway done shots so you guys could see the results a good scrub gave it! Next in store is a fresh new white top

Re: Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
2 years without washing??????
I was just washing the longhorn... giving it a good wash with good soap and scrubbing the wheels and everything, and was disapointed in myself when I realized its been 6 months or so since I did that... Thank you for making me feel better about myself! |

Re: Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
When my 67 was in primer, I lived with my parents, on a dirt road. Aside from getting rained on, I don't think my truck got washed more than 5 times from '97 to '06.
I think it looks good, that's one of the colors that looks cool in patina.

Re: Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
Hahaha, can I get off with the excuse of "I thought it would strip all my paint and leave me with a bare metal truck"? Yeah, that's my excuse for not washing it!

Yeah, I wanna take the "T" off the end so it's symmetrical. I hate stuff that isn't the same all around lol.

LOL, same here. Haven't washed the truck since I've owned it. I do keep the wheels and tires clean though.

Re: Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
I have been using my '67 and '71 around the farm every since I bought them for one thing or other and have not washed either one of them since I bought them.
Every night and on rainy days I keep them in enclosed carports to help minimize the formation of rust before I decide to restore one or both of them. But for now they are being used as farm trucks. If things work out the way we plan my son and I will start work on the sheetmetal on them this winter. Danny

Re: Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
My shop teacher in High school used to tell us. "you know all that grease and dirt and everything that all you young people always want to wash off?? Well its there for a reason!! If you wash it off things will start to squeek and make a racket and start leaking. All that dirt and grime is there for a reason so if your not planning on rebuilding a 30 year old engine leave it alone!!" I there for dont wash my old stuff for fear it amy fall apart and some of them I was afraid of what was underneath!! Your looks goot though. Hope it holds together now. LOL

Re: Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
Yeah, that roof was white at one time... Got a little carried away and didn't notice how aggressive the soap was! I fixed all the stuff that was falling off and that's what spurred me to wash it, so hopefully it will all stay on now that I fixed it. Lol, it sucked having to crawl under the truck the other day on my way to school. Going down the highway I heard the exhaust hit the pavement and start scraping. Pulled off onto a side road and off the road to fix it. Figures the place I park is nothing but dirt and I was in a white shirt and tan shorts. Went to school with dirt in my hair, rust on my chest, and a look to kill after I burnt my hand. I've got a pair of over all's in there now

Re: Washed Her for the First Time Yesterday!
I've had my 68 for 2 1/2 years and never washed it either :-D
Oh, but I just got it back from the painter 2 months ago and it's been inside since and I've never driven it, so I think it's OK |

Yeah, how's she looking? Last I remember I think you were waiting on the bed to get back from paint for final assembly?
