Who's interested????????????????

A fellow member (Shane) and I are doing research to see if there is an interest in a suspension part, before we have if made.

We’re going to have a machinist cut large washer/spacers out of stainless steel for the rear trailing arms with air bags. Similar to what you see pictured below. They would be .250 thick - 2.750 outer diameter with a 13/32 inner diameter hole (clearance for a 3/8" bolt).

Unfortunately the cost for a set (that’s two washers) would be $50.00 shipped within the US. I know that is expensive and there are other alternatives, but this will be a unique quality piece. In order of us to get that price we need to have a minimum order of 20 pieces or 10 sets.

OR IF SOMEONE HAS A CONNECTION THAT CAN MAKE THE ITEM WITH THE SAME MATERIAL FOR A CHEAPER PRICE, DROP US A PM. THANKS

Anyone Interested?

Re: Who's interested????????????????

Clearly a cool piece, but will they sell for 50 bucks? You should have made this a poll.

Would you buy this product at this price yes/no.

The one pictures I believe is made from aluminum. I used the picture purely for reference, so everyone would have a visual idea of what we want to make.

The machinist explained that they will be expensive due to the high price of 304 Stainless Steel right now. The majority of the cost is in the material and hardly any in labor.

Could they be CNC cut? I could get a price if so.

Re: Who's interested????????????????

The quoted price is CNC cut.

I'm currently looking for lower cost provider for material, may even look at a different grade of stainless that may also allow for a lower price. I'll keep everyone informed.

You could have them cut on a water jet, but you would not get the finish that turning them on a lathe provides. It wouldn't be any cheaper either, as most guys are charging anywhere from $75-$125 per hour for water jet work. Whereas CNC turning work is going for less than $50 per hour in most parts of the country.

Re: Who's interested????????????????

Do not take this wrong, I am asking a question from my ignorant hillbilly perspective. I've never run bags on my junk, just lots of lowered spring sets. I just run a big grade 8 washer and be done with it.

Why the focus on using the (apparently expensive) grade of stainless ? Why is this better than a big steel washer that costs a few cents ? Is it simply appearance and corrosion resistance or is there some other advantage I don't see ?

Appearance and corrosion resistance are the only real advantages, honestly.

I'm working diligently on a price point of $25 a pair plus shipping.

The kicker is the price breaks that come with larger quantities, but when you make them in batches of less than 100 at a time then it is very difficult to get to the lower price.

I'm working on it guys. I promise.

Re: Who's interested????????????????

Is stainless really necessary? Couldn't you make them from steel?

Here's the story ... I was asked to quote a part like in the picture. The finish on that part requires that it be maid from stainless or aluminum, and I didn't feel aluminum was the best material for a suspension component.

Thus the reason for the SS.

You can post a price publicly in this thread. I've already stated we aren't doing this on a for-profit basis, so no need to email back and forth.

Same dimensions as above but add a .125 radius on ONE O.D. corner ... make from 2 5/8" 304 stainless round bar.

Let us know.

yeah ... I studied on those quite a bit a few years back but didn't feel that .080" thick was sufficient.

Anyone who doesn't want a set, no problem and no hurt feelings. Jugernot asked me to look into it so I did and the guy doing the machining quoted me this price to do 20 parts. At this point we are only trying to find buyers for the other 7-8 sets.
