Today's Project
Threw my power steering belt on the freeway doing 70 mph. Fun.
Went to put a new belt on and discovered the bracket was broken and one of the bolts was broken off in the engine block. Welded a nut to the broken bolt, welded the bracket back together. (Luckily broken piece was held on by a nut on the pump. ![]() ![]()

Re: Today's Project
Fixed mostly. Still trying to figure out the bolt that goes in the front. Tried a 3/8" course, gonna try the next size down. Felt the belt go as soon as it went. Could still steer though, so just drove it home.

Re: Today's Project
Thanks for the reply. The bolts going into the block are O.K. They're 3/8" course thread. There's a bolt that goes into the front of the bracket into the pump I'm trying to figure out. 3/8" course was too big. Gonna try 5/16" next.

Re: Today's Project
My stock power steering bracket had the same cut out for the rear bolt. I also thought it was hacked up.
Check out the bottom of this thread to see what I mean. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=365766 |

Re: Today's Project
Cool thanks. Now if I can just figure out that bolt, I'll be good.
