Has anyone ever hired out cab work?
My '64 has a rotted cab, mostly just inner rockers and the cowl/kick panel or whatever thats called, I was wondering if I hired it out what I would be looking at to pay? Anyone done this?

Re: Has anyone ever hired out cab work?
I do, but I am in Kansas City. I would check with other members in your area, that may do it or can recommend a shop that will mess with the old iron.
In this area, shop rates range from $75.00-$110.00 per hour, plus the cost of patch panels and consumeable supplies. Depending on the amount of rust damage, you may be looking at between $1,000.00-$2,500.00. In many cases, it is reasonable to find a good, rust-free cab for under a $1,000.00 and do the swap. |

It's not going to be cheap to have a body shop do this type of work and then this is usually not their main business and sometimes shops will put things like our trucks on the back burner and it could sit for a long time before it gets done you may want to put some type of time requirement on them so that it does not sit for years for them to get to it. I have heard many horror stories of guys taking their cars to shops and the shop going out of business 5 yeas later and they get their car back a mear shell of what they took for repair. |

Re: Has anyone ever hired out cab work?
The last cab I did was brought to me stripped clean. I installed front floors, inner and outer rockers, kick plates, cab mounts, and welded up & smoothed the cowl and gas filler hole. Truck was a 72 Cheyenne. Charged $2000.00, and had it about 6 months. I only worked on it as fill work.
