Beware the smooth cowl...only talked with one guy that had one. He was running a mild 454 and it overheated badly. He was switching back to a vented cowl. I am not sure if he had a big water pump or not but like I said it was a mild 454. Just my 0.02...and I don't want to see you have problems if they can be avoided.

One question? Since the cowl is welded in place, how do you align all the body panels so they are perfect? I know when I aligned my panels I had to adjust the cowl some with body panel shims to get it right. Or, did you align the panels first and then marked it and tack welded the cowl in? I'm just curious because that looks like one of the best mods I've seen on these trucks.

Slogo the top is all metal and mostly fabricated. I did buy a suburban top but very little of it was used. You would almost think you could just make some cuts and use the back half of the suburban but it just doesn't quite work that way. Plus that was never the intention with this project. I would say at least 80% is all fabricated. I am told people always want to know what the top is from.......I suppose it amazes them that someone built it pretty much from scratch.

The cowl aligned very well before it was welded. The fender bolts will be accesed from inside and outside the truck. It is going to be a @#$@% if the fenders need to come off after it is finished.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

The frame started with a Art Morrison front clip with long rails. The front clip was built to our measurements and will be modified to run the shockwaves. The back half is being done at the shop. This was a 2wd jimmy to start with. I amlmost wish I had just used a 4x4 and spared a 2wd one. There is a clomplete 2wd chassis (engine and all) sitting in my garage that wasn't needed. I have see pics of the KRZ customs frames and they are good looking pieces. I wish I was skilled enough to do this kind of work but I am not. Luckily I have hooked up with some guys who not only have the skills but are good guys to boot.

SCOTI I don't know the measurement off the top of my head. Everything about the frame comes from those numbers though. It is set up to drive very low. I don't care about putting the rockers on the ground but they are nearly going to be there when it is aired out. I imagine there will be a 502 in its future
