low hump vs high hump
Hello everyone, I have a 71 gmc 4x4 with 396 4 speed transmission. It has a 67 cab with high hump floor piece. I want to switch cabs from another truck I have, It's a 1971 chevrolet with auto transmission (2 wheel drive) My question is this, how much of a cab lift would be required to retain the low hump floor, that is stock for this 1971 chevrolet auto cab?
thanks Brian

Re: low hump vs high hump
Wouldn't it be easier to just swap the "high hump" into your new cab?
Then a body lift wouldn't be required.

Re: low hump vs high hump
Yes it would, BUT, this cab has brand new carpet and is in good shape, do not want to tear it all out, it gives a little more room on the floor, and as well I have
35 inch bfg all terrains and think the increased room around the wheels would be beneficial, and as another I think the body lift would look good on the 4x4 for now.

Re: low hump vs high hump
Don't you need the "high hump" for a 4-speed truck?

Re: low hump vs high hump
Thanks for replies, without a body lift I would say yes, for sure

Re: low hump vs high hump
The way I see it, you should run the high hump. Especially if you are going with the manual trans.
Check out mine, and you can see even with the high hump the trans really comes up out of the floor.

Re: low hump vs high hump
You would be far better off using the high hump. New carpet is fairly cheap and the problems created lifting the body would be more expencive to solve. WES

Re: low hump vs high hump
To answer a previous question, with a 350 and 4 speed manual you definitely have to have a high hump.
