Suburban Questions
I recently purchased a 1991 Chevy Suburban, all original down to the "Outrider" conversion, by UCI. I haven't been able to find any information or either the company or actual conversion. Does any body here know anything about these Suburbans?

There were a few conversion companies that were based in Mansfield or close by. The last one to fold in Mansfield was Trail Master, which might have been a continuation of UCI. The upside is that it looks like they pretty much left the inside alone. The factory seats wear a lot better than most of the conversion stuff. Looks like a good start to me.

Thank You JonBoy, and yes the interior is all factory except for the roof mounted counsel with the lights? Are suburbans like these worth anything more being conversions, is there any interest in conversion suburbans?

That is a nice lookin 'burb you've got there. Noticed the headliner is droopin a bit. Easy fix for it would be to take it out, turnit upside down then gently pull back the fabric and spray both sufaces of the headliner with 3M GENERAL TRIM ADHESIVE, let it dry for about 5-8 minutes to get tacky, then press the 2 sections back together. Reinstall and you'll be good for a long time.

BLE'BURBAN- Thanks for the advice on the head liner. I have read your cluster mod and overhead console write ups, been looking for a clean way to put a tach in the burban, now i just need to start looking for donor cluster!!!

Man that's a nice Suburban I've never seen the outrider series. Sure is a lot of stripes. Do you plan to leave it stock?

Ya I hear ya, I got my suburban strictly because of my 3kids. I really wanted a shortbed crewcab but couldn't find one or a donor truck before the kids were born and got a good deal from a neighbor on my suburban. So I currently have the 3rd row seat out and I can lay down the middle seat if I need to haul anything.

No I put an ad on craigslist that I was selling my 91front end parts. and ending up trading with a local board member on here for his 81 front end with cowl hood and billet grill. I got what i wanted and he got what wanted. lol

The Plan: Flip kit in rear (stock) with longer shackle-down the road a DIY4X kit For the front factory 1998 C1500 coils should equal out to be around 4 inches front and rear What do you guys think, be honest because i don't want to f**k this burban up!!!! |

I am pretty sure a flip kit will lower the back. Are you talking about moving the rear axle over the leafs, or flipping the spring hangers?

OK so from what I have learned
1 The front 88-98 spring will fit and lift my suburban 2 The rear suspension will not be a big deal; new springs or a add-a-leaf, shackle hanger kit Diy4x.com part # 231H or FatBobsGarage for custom add-a-leaf or shackle lift kit the problem is that I don't know what the spring rates are for a 1991 Suburban or a 1998 Chevy truck. Will the front coil springs off a 1998 truck hold or they compress lending to a crappy ride and no lift??? edit: 91 suburban coil spring rate-1,068 Lbs. 98 C1500 coil spring rate-??? 95 C2500 coil spring rate-1,400 Lbs.
