Re: 84 A arms on a 72
The later arms have rubber bushings instead of metal bushings. Some will tell you the rubber bushings ride better. I know the ball joints are different too, but I doubt they are much better. The BJ tapers are different from 72 to 73 which dictates the correct spindle and tie rod ends.

Ball joints are quite a bit cheaper. I think the stud is a little bigger also.

Re: 84 A arms on a 72
my opinion would be yes. the only benefit i have "heard" of (since i've never used the 67-72 type) is that the 67-72 versions handle better since there is less rubber deflection for cornering/handling. the advantages are softer ride unless you use urethane cuz they are stiffer, cheaper replacement costs, IMO easier to change, no servicing (no zerks to grease), and easier to find.
i changed my blazer to 73 up before i drove it and am doing the same on the 71 even though it is already a 5 lug and disc brake setup.

Re: 84 A arms on a 72
so then, are front end parts cheaper for a 73 than a 72? I want to rebuild the front end of my 72 and go with drop spindles

Re: 84 A arms on a 72
put 73 and up spindles on it, and change over to 73 and up ball joints.
Might have to change tie rod ends too? the 73 and up have bigger peices |

Re: 84 A arms on a 72
yea, most all parts are cheaper and easier to find for 73 up, and more parts are stocked locally @ parts stores too. even the spindles can be found cheaper if you search.
