Yes, X's 2 on the cam being the same. You also have to have a collar for the distributor to compensate for the taller deck.

Re: deck height

Yes it is 10.2" & unless somebody has put rectangular port heads on there, it's oval ports on there.

All you need is a set of these:

& you can put any performance manifold on there as well.

Re: deck height

sweet the reason i was asking i got a talldeck 427 at a friends house and we saw the gmpp 572 is a talldeck at 10.2 so we figured if this is too why wont the intake fit the 427 and theirs alot of tall deck parts made by world racing products for their tall deck blocks at 10.2in so we figured why not make use of that?
everyone says junk them its a talldeck useless and no parts sold for them thats why he got his for 50$ ive seen people throw away running tall decks and then go buy a junkyard normal big block thats questionable and rebuild it seems like a more expensive route we figure on putting the cam thats in the gmpp 454HO into the 427td block (plus ours is running) getting a intake and holley carb bore .060 over and we'd have a cheap bbc, at least cheaper then buying a 400$ 454 block off local junkyard, puts us -350$ off our 427td do some head work too and we hope to hit 375hp i can see why the 366 aint popular performance wise small bore and all but it seems like a untouched resource overall.
were putting it in our 77 4dr impala has a 4in cowl hood so were hoping clearance will be good and we dont think many will be able to see the deck height difference so when we say we got a 427 (true) were hoping their like what!! where'd u get corvette or camaro motor? how many grand it set u back?? we just want to be able to laugh and say some redicudlously low budget number
thanks guys

Re: deck height

I have 427 truck heads on my BBC they are the large oval ports. Some 427/454 heads are small ovals.

Re: deck height

if you try to hp that stock td 427 you are going to rip it in half.

and you had better look closer at that 572 block, it isnt any where near what that 427 block is.

dont get mean wrong the block is what you want to build a good long stroke 500ish cube motor but you need to do some heavy math and $$$$$ to get it a ripping motor.

Re: deck height

yeah i didnt mean the same as foundation wise more so the idea of it being a tallblock sparked the idea of using aftermarket talldeck parts, and im looking to make no more then 400hp tops and to be able to say its a 427, i dont think many will realize that 427's were truck motors too so they'll all think we spent big bucks on a camaro or corvette motor, ive found abook by chevy hiperformance and they used the 427 truck block and got 500hp outa it. we dont plan to spin past 6000rpm either

Re: deck height

Lot of people use those tall deck 427s in boats making 600-800 HP with them and run them all day long. Boats put an entirely different type of stress on a motor but I'm just sayin.
