anyone here running a ht383 gmpp?

if so is it a good choice for a tf truck or sluggish

It should be a good choice. Nice an tourquey. Im running a 350 in my 56 an have no problems moving it. Just remember that they are externaly balanced engines an require different harmonic balancers.

I think It all depends on what you consider sluggish or on the other side of the coin, enough performance.

For at least half of us here, a strong 383 would move the truck every bit as quick as we desired it to go. For the other third 400 hp at the rear wheels would never be enough. They may never use all of it but they want it there.
I thought seriously about building a 383 with Vortec heads for my 71 GMC 3/4 ton as I tow with it a lot but now it looks like I will go with a 500 Cad and matching turbo 400 along with the 3.54 Posi sitting out by the garage. The major factor in that change was that a 500 became available and it would take a year to put the money together to put the 383 together.
