Experience with Extang Tonneau Covers?
Hi Guys,
I'm thinking of buying a Tonneau Cover and found these 2 at summit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EXG-14535/ or http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EXG-8535/ Does somebody have experience with Covers from Extang? Are they any good? Thx Thomas

The first one is what I put on my 97 may of last year, I really like the J45 style attachment over snaps just because it's slick and easier than snaps. No issues as of yet, But mine isn't a DD so it doesn't sit in the weather everyday.
I also ordered Extang's Tonno Tonic to keep it looking good. I put Armor-all on it after installing then got into a drizzle heading to a show, It washed the AA all down the sides of the box causing streaks. The TT doesn't do this so it's worth the bux to me. Nice products in my book....

I loved mine every day on my DD the one with no snap loks very kool and always stayed tight...the ony issue was when in was febuary and very cold it was hard to put on..what I did was get it on as much as I could then hit it with a pail of hot water and it snapped right on.....
I even lost the back rail..my fault..called them to order a new one and they sent it for free...I would buy on again in a heart beat

I have not bought one yet but I did visit their Ann Arbor Michigan facility. You can custom order colors for your tops in some of the models. When I get one it will be one of theirs.

I had the second one for years on a Line-X'ed crew cab. It's a really nice piece. I could travel in the truck with my family with luggage in the bed and not worry about rain but when I needed to haul something larger the cover comes on and off easily with no tools and takes less than a minute.
Pretty good run-on sentence, eh?  And as you already know, the the frame mounts under the rail and is no-drill. It worked for me. |
