3/4 ton leafs to 1/2 ton leafs
Im interested in switching out my 3/4 leafs out for 1/2 tons. Are they the same length? I'd like to lower it some. Or should i just take out some springs from what i have.
Oh and on a side note can you swap front springs out to half ton? Last edited by msgross; 01-13-2010 at 10:07 PM. Reason: corrected for owner |

Re: 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton leafs
what are you trying to achieve, softer ride?
You could remove a leaf and replace it with a zero rate from ORD.com

Re: 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton leafs
I know there are like 1000 threads close to this but the search isn't working. I know most are coils but I'm talking about the leaf spring ones. I think gmc came standard with leaf and coil was optional? Chevy was the opposite.
Oops the title is backwards. |

Re: 3/4 ton leafs to 1/2 ton leafs
I worked at a spring shop for a few years and as far as oem springs they were the same on the front weather 1/2 or 3/4 sometimes on the 3/4 we would add an extra making them a 3 leaf spring pack. Thats if its a 4x4. When we would add new springs in the front we would put them in as a pair due to the fact that it would actually lift the front about 2 inches compared to the original wore out springs
