Re: 8 lug to 5 lug???
the rear end was a straight swap, had to have a custom u-joint installed to match the 3/4 ton driveshaft to the half ton axle
For the front, you need to change the upper and lower ball joints, use a half ton spindle, half ton bearings, rotors, and tie rods. The calipers are the same. |

Re: 8 lug to 5 lug???
I am not sure but looking at my 68 C 20 lower a frames I think the lower ball joints might be a larger outside diameter. I think the lower a frames might be different. The size of the hole might be larger. Anyone know for sure?

Re: 8 lug to 5 lug???
Yes the lca carries a different ball joint. It is a larger dia. than the half ton. I found some threads about changing to a six lug front disk brakes using a 68 3/4 ton lower contol arm and using spindles and rotors from a c-1500 88-98. The top ball joint was changed to the later ones as was the bottoms and they fit perfect. So, if that was done to change to a six hole disc it could be done to change to a 5 hole just as easy because the 1/2 and light duty 3/4 from that time carry the same spindles and bearings. Jim
