Question about installing poly trailing arm bushings.

When I installed new poly busings in my trailing arms, I was not able to get the smaller poly ring to fit into the crossmember fitting with the rest of the trailing arm and bushing.

The bushing were pressed all the way into the sleeve and the sleeve was fully seated in the arm. I am using a new CPP x-member. The trailing arm barely fit into the x-member mounts without the ring. There was no way to force it in. Has anyone else had this problem or did i do something wrong?

Take a rubber hammer and beat the rubber ring on to make sure it's seated. You may have to take a crescent wrench and "tweak" the trailing arm bracket to get them started, but once you have them started, you can slowly work them in to the desired spot.

just did this last week it will just take a little time, elbow grease and a rubber mallet to beat the arm in but they will fit

The mounting tabs on the CPP-memebr are not going to open up, without heating them.
I used a press to press the bushings and the rings in. The metal sleeve is protruding from the trailing arm not allowing the ring to seat flush. The sleeves were never removed, as i melted the old bushing out in a burn barrel.
If the rings were counterbored, they might seat flush over the sleeve.

Without the ring, I still had to beat them in. With the ring, the bushing stack up is about 1/4" more than the mounting tabs on the x-memeber.

I'll take them back off when I try it again when I put in my axle shims.
