I know Jay Leno is a car guy, and the lift looks pretty cool, but sounds like a infomerical now.. how much money does this guy need?

also what the heck are the big wheels in the back for? looks like off of a old steam engine?

its nice but id want something a little bigger if i had to swing a transmission or do an exhaust... unless i was vertically challenged then it would lift enough to walk under it

8 feet high top of the car so i think that about as high that car goes you see jay lowering it down
so the stool seat would be used
i like it better than jack stands and creeper

Yeah iirc it was made in 1908 or was it 1898. Anyway, its on his site, he has it running.

i like the lift ! beats workin on the ground and if you had a pit in your shop it would work even better

That is not an air compressor. That is a hydrolic power unit. Pretty standard setup for small lifts. We used to have a drive over lift at work. It would lift a car about 3 feet. Just enough for our needs. Same power unit.

some of those are air of hydraulic and require an air supply to run the lift. its a good idea but with only an 8 foot ceiling you can only get a truck about 3 feet off the ground anyhow. might as well save the cash and get a good set of jackstands.

I like it cause if you ever get a real garage, you can take it there and have plenty of room. I don't know, 3 feet is just enough room to work on things. not to mention, you can use it to take apart the truck, cab and such.

I checked it out after you told me about it friday. A couple things that got my attention were as follows. Most applications would require a retrofit concrete bolt anchor. There are some pretty neat anchors for cured drilled concrete, but none I'd trust enough for that application. An impact gun to snug the bolts? Seems like it would be real easy to pull a split anchor out. Seems like a pain to line up the bolt hole too. I like the concept. I suppose if I had one anchored the way I wanted it, it would remain anchored to the floor.

standard procedure for any lift install is to use anchor bolts. i just installed one friday night in my brothers garage. every shop i ever worked in lifts were added after the floor was poured. drill the holes install to bolts and torque to 150ft lbs or so. when a car is sitting on the lift properly the weight of the car is trying to push the lift into the ground not tip it one way or the other.

seems kinda hokey to me. I like the Mohawk System I lifts we have at work. been in place for 20 years without a single problem. the only thing sturdier than a Mohawk is the floor it sits on.

The Bend Pac LR-60P was the unit I used to work with. Well built. It was good for engine work. We replaced a lot of AC systems using it.
