Interior ideas...? Anything beside pre-cut carpet or rubber mat...?

I'm working on getting the interior finished up. Got the inside of the cab and dash painted. A new "Horse Blanket" seat cover and I am trying to decide on what to do with the floor. This is a low buck hot rod truck, so I am brainstorming on something to do other than just throwing down one of the pre-made carpet kits or a rubber mat. Anyone have any ideas on a thrifty/cheap way to get the floor looking good...? Some kind of coating or carpet alternatives...? I did some searching around and most folks seem to just buy pre-cut carpet or install a new rubber mat...

This ain't the greatest, but you did say "cheap" so this qualifies.
I kinda did this as temporary on my 63, but like most temporary fixes, it became permanent. It's a piece of indoor-outdoor gray carpet from Lowes, attached with contact cement. Home Depot and Lowes have several different colors/styles to choose from. Only bad part is the fold in front of the shifter which I couldn't figure out how to get rid of without cutting and splicing. It looks better in person than in the pictures. The fold actually kinda looks like it belongs there when you see it in person.
Not much to be proud of here, but like I said, it is cheap.

Self-apply some of the trunk liner spray-on coating or have it Rhino-lined.

When i was much younger, about 20, a friebd had a 55 chevy pu painted black with a mural on tailgate, very nice truck. He had about 6 or 8 inch squares of differant colored carpet that they got from left overs at the store. I dont know if it was sticht together or glued but it looked very nice.
