Re: 63-66 with LS engines- emergency brake ?
I decided not use an ebrake with my 6.0/4l80e swap, so I removed both crossmembers and all the e-brake cables, etc. I am going to use a early 80's chevy 4X4 crossmember for my 4L80e.....Used an air hammer/chisel to pop the rivets out on the cross members. I had accidently bent up my ebrake xmember with a floor jack.

Re: 63-66 with LS engines- emergency brake ?
Clyde,
I am swapping a 6.0L with T56. I removed the E-brake cross member and fabricated a new crossmember for the T56. I then fabbed up a new E-brake assembly and welded it to the new cross member. I had to shorten the E-brake cables a little but otherwise it works like the original. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow. TR

Re: 63-66 with LS engines- emergency brake ?
I have always thought about maybe trying lakewood's universal e-brake kit since I am missing several parts to make my e-brake work. I think that one of these kits may even work with the factory brake lever if a person is creative enough. The price may be the only thing keeping me from giving it a whirl. Just my $.02.

Re: 63-66 with LS engines- emergency brake ?
The '66-'72's did away with the crossmember and linkage and replaced it with another cable and a couple of hooks to the frame. One of these setups may be easier to make work in your application.

Here is the PDF from LMC that shows the cable and hooks that Captainfab mentioned.

Clyde,
Here are some pictures of what I did for the e-brake. The assembly is out of the truck for painting but I fully tested it. I wanted to keep it as close to stock as possible. TR

Re: 63-66 with LS engines- emergency brake ?
ooooo, cool! Can you make me one? JK, I have absolutely no talent for welding and such. I think I may just do the 66-7? option, although I hate to sink more $ into this process, wish I would have known then, I would have done it before the 5.3/4l60e went in.
