Brake question

Ok I just got a 82 Chevy 4x4 a couple weeks ago. I noticed while medium to hard braking it pulled to the right so I had to counter steer to the left. I pulled the tires and inspected the brakes the right side inner pad was marginal compared to the outside on that caliper. I decieded to do a brake job. I replaced both front calipers $14 each can't beat that right? Wagner Thermoquite pads I had the rotors turned. I also replaced the inner and outer bearings on both sides. I bleed the brakes etc. It stops better, but it still pulls to the right??? I'm at a loss here. I do notice that if I brake really hard the back tires lock up a little. Any ideas or suggestions to check. The way the caliper floating pins looked I figured that was the reason I was getting the pull. I guess not.....

Im assuming that you checked the air pressure and tire sizes to make sure both are correct

Re: Brake question

check the back drums to,you might have a axle seal leaking and there is gear oil on that drum(in-turn not letting the brake work on that side) so there could be a pull there

Re: Brake question

Just went threw the exact same things with my 82 1/2ton. I did not replace any lines like the others mentioned, but replaced the hardware (drums, shoes, springs and wheel cylinders). brakes are doing fine now and that right rear has not locked up on me any more.

spray the right rear brake(inside the drum) with brake clean and i bet you it will lock up,then that means you got gear oil in there so its letting it slip.

ask me how i know this?
i have the same problem

Not disputing your ideas...just telling the guy what just worked for me on my truck. I will say that I have not heard of a brake locking up due to being sprayed with brake cleaner.
