Control arm hijinks
I need some more camber. I am 1\2 inch in (negative) at the top from 0 caster. It already has 1 1\8 of shims in the upper arms. So need to move the top of the spindle out 1 5\8 to get to 0 camber. So I am going to have to modify the control arms. I am going to leave1\4 inch for shims to adjust the caster. What is the oe camber spec? It should be slightly negative. I am concerned that an upper that long will put the tire into the outer fender lip. So a shorter lower/longer upper may be more practical. Any thoughts or comments? Jay

Re: Control arm hijinks
One of these may help..................
Moog Control Arm Shaft Kit Part No. K6184 This shaft adds camber to reduce the number of shims needed.

Re: Control arm hijinks
wow, this reminds me of my 79 blazer i drove back in high school. i hacked at least 2 coils off the front, cut off the bumpstop mounts, added tractionbar bumpstops, then even with it spaced all the way out it was still way off. i ended up going to the bolt supply and grabbing grade 8 fine thread bolts that were longer than the oem upper a-arm studs. i put those in place and took 1" pieces of pipe and welded washers on the ends to make spacers to put in. worked out pretty well. only bad thing was you have to hold the bolts on the inside and they arent that easy to get to, think i used a socket on a breaker bar to hold them.
was the lowest thing around, i flipped the rear and took out 2 leafs in the back, wish i had a pic, them cragar ss mags looked good, 15x10 in back and 14x8 reverse up front. woulda loved to know they had offset upper shafts |
