Headlight conversion
Okay so I picked up an 81 chevy longbed a few weeks ago and I wanna update from the sealed beams. Would purchasing a conversion kit like http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/6x4-X...item3a57d9d01f work for me? Like is there anything else that I would need or these not work at all for my situation?
And does anyone know what a "built in city light" is? |

Re: Headlight conversion
These will work, I have done it on my 87 S10 Jimmy. I am not super enthusiastic about the beam quality and ended switching back to silverstars. I thought about putting in HID kits and trying that but never got around to it.
City light are small bulbs located in the lower section of the reflector.

Re: Headlight conversion
You would be better off finding a headlight housing with an actual projector in it if you really wanted to go with a proper working HID light. Most non-projector headlights don't offer the proper light path and cut-off so you are wasting alot of the light and blinding other drivers in the process.

Of course, you've got to stay away from the Hondaboy blue bulbs. |

Re: Headlight conversion
i would get a set of lights the look more like the housing you currently have so you keep the same looks that the truck currently has without ricing it out too much. I did this to mine and they work great. look up a company called neolite, thats the brand my housings are from i got them on ebay a couple years ago.

And dont worry about ricing it with the blue bulbs, I hate those things. I would be using some silverstars most likely. |

Re: Headlight conversion
World of difference! If you read through Glock35ipsc's build thread, he did this part way through. Sorry I am not going to search through and find it to link it for you. But it was about the same time as he did the suburban grill in it.

Re: Headlight conversion
LMC truck has a nice set of housings that accept H4s as well.
