keeping rear centered
I am in the process of bagging the rear on my 65 and I really dont want to pay 400+ for watts link so any other ideas? I have maybe a inch in both directions before the tires hit the fenders in the rear. I am keeping the floor stock so everything has to be under the crossmembers. Ive thought about doing a metric type link rear ie olds, monte etc...

Re: keeping rear centered
I'm also tossing around the idea of the upper wishbone and eliminating the panhard bar. Will this work?

Re: keeping rear centered
I made a sliding wishbone for my truck. It worked out to be the best option for me. Sorry for the crappy pictures.

Yeah, a sliding wishbone is a great way to go.

Re: keeping rear centered
How low are you planning on going? If your not going with a step notch, you don't need a Watts link.

Re: keeping rear centered
No step notch stock floor location but I cant run the 63-64 type panhard bar mounted on right side axle tube because I have about 1 inch of travel twards drivers side. Im running the bags forward of stock location about 12" or so to get more travel out of them. I am wanting to keep the rear centered as possible with the minimal amount of side shift.

Re: keeping rear centered
I'm not much up to date on suspensions and laying low, but would making a custom panhard and moving it to say, the left trailing arm and then to the right frame rail work?
The longer the panhard, the better I've read. Just a bracket (similar to the stock shock mount?) beefed up, a section of rod/tubing and two ends...? Just thinking out loud and trying to keep it simple. -Sam.

Re: keeping rear centered
I had the supr trackbar on my last truck and it did limit the side to side movement but Still had issues with fender clearence with static drop now I'm going bags I want to keep it centered all the way through the motions that's why I was thinking watts. I know some are saying wheel backspacing and all that jaz but I really like my fat tires.

Re: keeping rear centered
The bags are going to be mounted further forward than stock not trying to get 12 inches of lift. I'm still thinking of putting in stock location.

Re: keeping rear centered
If the front can't get any more than 5" of lift, 12" for the rear seems unecessary. With less lift out back (bags in stock location) the ride is still great & the long Panhard bar should work fine when set up parallel @ ride height. Just food for thought.....

Re: keeping rear centered
Where did you get 12 inches of lift? I don't have a cantalever setup. I am going to make a super bar at work and try it I guess until I can figure out something else

Re: keeping rear centered
The bar I had on my other truck would still contact the fenders with a static drop but we'll see if it will work on this one. I'm going to look into this durango thing alittle more.

Re: keeping rear centered
I mis-read your statement where you considered relocating the bags 12" forward of the OE location (I read it as 12" lift @ the re-located, forward location). I've read that the Chrysler set-up is a common warranty repair for what it's worth.
