What size wheel and tire do I need? 2.5"/4" drop
Hey guys I have researched numerous pages on which wheel and tire size I need but I just can't figure out what will actually fit.
My truck has a 2.5"/4" Drop. I would like to put Center Line Smoothies on my truck. I dont like the more tire than wheel look. I dont want there to be a big gap in between the tire and wheel well like I have now with my 15's with 295/50/15s on it. I also dont want too much tire and not enough wheel either. So I'm looking for that even balance to where my wheel and tire match even out and to where the top of my tire stops right at the edge of the fender when your looking at it from the side. SO..... I I'm look at going with the 18" wheel size however I do not know what backspacing or width I need or what tire size. I dont want it to rub and I dont want to spend a bunch of money on tires that dont fit.... Can anyone help me out I know these are the style wheels I want with the wheel painted black and the 'lip' polished aluminum like a beaty ring... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CLL-5298806550/ Thanks guys! |

Re: What size wheel and tire do I need? 2.5"/4" drop
Here is a 2.5/4 with 18's . I intended to pm you the info but this will work also . It has 18x8 with 4.5 inches of backspace and a 255/55/18 on front . The rear was a 18x10 with 5.25 inches of backspace and a 275/60/18. If I could have found matching tread in a 255/50/18 and 285/50/18 I would have rather ran that size . If anyone knows of a manufacturer that has those sizes in matching tread , pleas let me know because my son likes the looks of this setup .

Here's mine w/ 18" wheels and 255/55/18 Falkens. The drop is 3" w/ spindles and 2" w/ shackles. I plan on dropping it another 2" w/ hangers but haven't gotten around to it. Mine rubs on hard bumps, but I think/hope that's due to my shocks. Good luck!

If you like that wheel, you should look at the Centerline Ultra Series Smoothie. Check the Centerline site for closeout deals. It as actually cheaper than the Tomahawk Series Smoothie LINK
Personally I would go with 20's. Ultra Series- Smoothie Tomahawk Series-Smoothie

Re: What size wheel and tire do I need? 2.5"/4" drop
Thanks everyone for posting up!
Hey I looked on the centerline website and the only ones I could find that might fit is the 18" x 8" with a 5" backspacing... That would be okay for the front but I want 18 x 10 on the back.... Would the 18 x 8 with a 5" backspacing work on the front? Maybe I should do them all the way around... I just like wide tires in the back for a more mean look... |

No problems with the tires rubbing? Since the wife is on maternity leave at the moment, she appreciates all the help that i have been giving her around the house and forsaking my truck. She may let me spend the money on a drop kit. I like the look of this one................

Thanks Frank. What kind of kit are you using? I am looking for something that is good and will not break the bank roll. Diapers cost money when you have to kids under 2 yrs of age. I have been looking at the ones from LMC or Brothers, as well as Western Chassis and Bell Tech. Looking to spend less than $ 500 (excluding shocks)

Get your CC out and browse on over to www.summitracing.com. Get a set of Summit brand spindles, and a flip kit. Save a few bucks and go with 20's. You'll be glad you did.
