My New (to me) Air Compressor!
Last Friday in autoshop, I noticed an old aircompressor sitting around in the shop. I ask my teacher what it was here for and he said it's just old, works fine, and it's FREE! So I took him up on his offer right away. We loaded it up in the chevy after school and took it home. It's slow, covered in garage grease, but it's super quiet. The motor is an old old old Wagner electric company Induction repulsion 1/2 hp motor and the compressor is an old Speedaire. The tank is a 15 gallon or so and it's from 1931 and is about as solid as a rock. I'm gonna clean it up and take goood care of it.

Can't beat the price. If it will do what you need it to do until you can do better, that's great.

It's a big tank so it does more than enough, It's either 15 or a 20 gallon tank and it gets up to pressure quick enough for me, and it holds enough air to power an impact gun!

Great score.
I'd fab up some sort of a belt guard if it didn't come with one though.

Re: My New (to me) Air Compressor!
Yeah my teacher gave me a "Keep fingers away from it, it bites" The motor weighs a ton and has ridiculous torque, I looked it up it's a induction repulsion motor, and it doesn't use brushes, it just uses them to start up and kicks off to induction mode. But I love the blasted thing! As ugly as it is

You need to change the oil in the compressor ASAP.
I'm always replacing air compressors that customers do not properly maintain. |

Did the day I got it, Still dirty I know, I have no idea how much abuse it saw, but it was free. i'll empty it out tomorrow and refill i'm not frettin much. If it goes out i'll just rummage up another compressor pump and fab it up.
