looking to replace driveshaft
95 S10 Ext cab rwd manual. 4.3 V6
Has a split shaft Has been Macgivered. Now single u joint, from the endcap of the back shaft to the middle of the front u joint 24 inch. Have a inch maybe two I can play either way. The hanger bearing shaft is worn causing the bearing to act as a sleave instead of a bearing and is "scarring" the shaft because the shaft is turning within the inner race if the bearing. Since I cannot find (within a reasonable price) a proper replacement that was made for the 95 S10 I am forced to do what the last guy did...mcgiver! Any thoughts on fron shafts that may fit...would be apreciated. The shaft that is there standard u joint and is only measured to that u joint from the endcap of the back shaft. Many thanks P |

Re: looking to replace driveshaft
Measure the shaft length center of u joint to center of ujoint ( front to rear ) and hit your local salvage yard. They usually have a stack of driveshafts that you can dig through. Bring your old one with you to compare yoke size and spline, and rear u joint cap size. Chances are, you will find something that will work. Good luck!

Re: looking to replace driveshaft
This is the worst town I have ever lived in.
I now know I can pull the end cardof joint off a '74 thru 89 K20 front drive shaft and it will take care of my pinion u joint problem. As for the front shaft I believe anything from the same era with a stick in it has a chance...not quite as sure about splines...altho I have the removable for the trany end are all chevy and gmc splined the same for the reciever end on the back shaft? |
