2.5/4 currently, but wanting to go lower ?'s
Hello,
we are currently running 2.5 ECE drop spindles with BBC springs on my sons '67 with a SBC. I spaced the fact that the parts truck was bbc. The rear is ECE 4" drop springs with shock relocators and adj. track bar. we are running 17x8 front and 17x9 rear rims. I plan on installing some 2" drop front springs to bring it down some. My question was . should i install the 2" drop blocks i have, or go with 6" drop springs? was curious if any downside to running blocks, i know alot of ppl do though. any vibrations /known issues etc. to not run blocks. Will i be ok running the 4" spring, 2" drop block and reg. adj. trac bar, or would i need to upgrade to the super track bar? Thanks.

I believe you'd be perfectly fine with the blocks, but get some other (more qualified) opinions. I believe their only issue is scrub line issues with bagged trucks if a bag fails.
By the way, happy you're dropping it another 2" all the way around...will be PERFECT now

Re: 2.5/4 currently, but wanting to go lower ?'s
I can only speak about the 6" drop spring but so far, zero vibration or issues related to the spring. Now... you know I won't have the kind of power to shift a ton of weight to the back wheels (:P) but you should be fine regardless of the type of rear drop.
Any possible failures due to torque on the rear blocks? I'm not as educated on blocks as other on the site... just my $.02 Heath.

Failed to mention that Heath... basically I'm running everything in ECE's kit. (Supertrac bar, shock relocators, etc.) Excellent quailty parts as you know, everything fit together flawlessly.

Re: 2.5/4 currently, but wanting to go lower ?'s
an air bag has NOTHING to do with scrub line issues ... flat tires do.
i would not recommend a block larger than 1 1/2" |

Re: 2.5/4 currently, but wanting to go lower ?'s
Shane is on the right track. I personally will run 2 inch blocks, but you really need to eyeball the scrub line. Since you have 17 inch wheels you are that much safer on scrub line though.
I've run 6 inch spring and also 4 inch springs with 2 inch blocks, with no real discernible issues with either setup. For me, I run what I have if it will save me buying more parts. Heck, I wrote an FAQ a few years ago about building lowering blocks so you know I'm a fan of them.

Re: 2.5/4 currently, but wanting to go lower ?'s
A 2 " block is pushin scrub line issues on a 15" wheel, but on the 17" wheel, I wouldnt worry about it. Up front (on the cheap), you can cut 1 full ring off the bottom of the coil, & it will get you about 2" of drop crazyAL

Re: 2.5/4 currently, but wanting to go lower ?'s
One benefit not yet mentioned about lowering blocks (for this application) is they allow additional drop w/o affecting the shock travel. 2" shorter coils out back will affect the shock travel. the shocks that work ok w/a 4" spring may bottom out sooner w/a 6" spring.

Would i be ok running the regular adjustable track bar that goes from the frame to the axle, or would i need to upgrade to the super track that locates it from the frame to the trailing arm.....

Re: 2.5/4 currently, but wanting to go lower ?'s
A short bar technically would work. It would not be @ an optimum angle & the length would allow for more side shift per inch of travel vs. a full frame width 'super' style bar.
