I am trying to find out if the rear end width is the same with an 88 suburban as it is on the 87 down pu and does anyone know the gear ratio?

Re: rear end width

6*- early 70 is the same short rear, Late 70-87 is the wider rear. rear gears really depend on a bunch of stuff.

Re: rear end width

i think the rear end would be the same width, considering '88 Burb was still square-body...no idea what all options for gears were

Re: rear end width

The width should be the same as the late '70-'87 pickups which is 63 1/2-5/8"
As for gear ratio, IMO you'll just have to pull the rear cover. Some guys swear by counting pinion rotations per wheel rotation, but I don't have much luck with that one
