changing from 5x5 to 5x5.5
I'd like to change the bolt pattern on my truck from 5x5 stock to 5x4.5...I'd like to run dodge steelies on it...I was looking for my options as there are a couple of ways I can do this...
does anyone know if the backspacing on the dodge steelies would allow me to run adapters...I'm going to static drop the truck about a 6/8...thanks for the suggestions in advance Chuck. |

Re: changing from 5x5 to 5x4.5
I don't know about the backspace, but I believe the Dodge bolt pattern is 5x5.5 not 5x4.5.

Re: changing from 5x5 to 5x4.5
ah well, looking at that you're right Ken...I guess I need to swap over to 5x5.5 bolt pattern then...Ken can you change the title for me...I don't want someone passing it up because it says the wrong thing...also, I guess the only way to do this would be adapters huh?

Re: changing from 5x5 to 5x4.5
you could put a 9 inch outa Brondo or mid 80's back F150.
And a spacer on the front from https://uswheeladapters.com/Home_Page.php or there was a place called spidertax, but cant find any info if you wanted to go 5x5.5 If you want to go 5x4.5 prob the best to fo would to get some Moser axles, they will ask what bolt patters you want and have the drums drilled. I think classic makes a 4.5 rotor also.....or maybe its a 4.75 pattern |

Re: changing from 5x5 to 5x5.5
Chuck- There have been a couple of guys in the 67-72 forum that used adapters to run them. It really depends on what you are looking for by running the steelies. Are you after the look, a cheap steel wheel, or ...?

Re: changing from 5x5 to 5x5.5
here is another site for adapters....http://adaptitusa.com/ i have a dodge steelie that i want to use on my 66 i went out and put a straight edge and measured to the hub face its 5 3/8 of an inch i guess that what your backspace would be on a 8 inch wheel so idk if that is possitive or negative offset

Re: changing from 5x5 to 5x5.5
i have 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern- no adapters.
even if moser makes the smallest diameter axle flange for 5.5, it still wont fit in a gm hat for 5". so what I did was have moser make me axles for my gm 12 bolt. Then I cut the stock brake flanges off the tubes and made new ones to use the dodge backing plates with the dodge rotors. This gave me disk brakes and integral parking brake. works out nicely. |

Re: changing from 5x5 to 5x5.5
bolt them up, the proper lugs for the mags will go into the wheel some.
