Specific 14 bolt disc brake/hub question???
Does anyone have any experience putting one of the many 14 bolt full floater disc brake kits on a newer style corporate 14 bolt axle? By newer I mean one that came out from under the 88-98 type body style (it's sort of a grey area on the exact year). This axle would have the SLIDE-ON style brake drum as opposed to the pressed on behind the hub style like the 87 and earlier. I have been told that the back side of these newer hubs are not machined flat and therefor don't accept the disc rotor swap as easily. Can anybody confirm or deny this?

Re: Specific 14 bolt disc brake/hub question???
I did one on a 93,I used the weld on brackets from Rough stuff.GM used so many diferent venders for the brakes it is hard to get the bolt on brackets to line up,If you use the weld on ones you can put them right where you need them!!Goood luck!!

Re: Specific 14 bolt disc brake/hub question???
I planned to use a weld on bracket anyway, the factory 4 hole bracket that the drum bolted to is about 5 inchs inset from the hub for some reason. Here are a couple pics for the heck of it.

Re: Specific 14 bolt disc brake/hub question???
So did you just put the disc to the back of the hub like is normally done to the 87 and down? Did you clean up the mounting surface or have it machined or anything??? Thanks!

Re: Specific 14 bolt disc brake/hub question???
That just doesn't look right,Looks like a duelly rear or maby from a stake body?Looks realy wide.If it's from a single rear wheel truck,It should measure about 65" wheel flange to wheel.

Re: Specific 14 bolt disc brake/hub question???
I agree with you, probably a van or panel etc. To me the hubs don't look like dually hubs but I have been wrong before. Either way I like the width. It is about 68.5 inches from wms to wms which is real close to what my dana 44 will be with 8 lugs. Any info on the inner disc/drum mounting surface? Did you machine it or prep it at all on the one you mentioned???

Re: Specific 14 bolt disc brake/hub question???
Awesome! I been on your website quite a bit, didn't realize that drink2many = Blackbird Customs though.
Your kit is on my short list of ones I would like to buy. Could you please give me a little more detail on what you do different between the pressed on and slide on styles. Is it just the cutout in the bracket to allow it to slide onto the axle tube? Is there something else???
