seat platform removal?

I'm helping work on a '50 panel truck and it has the original seats up front.
We managed to remove the drivers seat, but it looks as though the platform that the seats are attached to is removable (at least, the drivers front corner comes up a few inches) but we cannot find any way to "unlatch" it.
Is it in fact removable? And if so, how?

Any help is appreciated!

I am not sure about that since I am working on a reg cab truck and the seat was removed before I got to it. I don't know if this helps or not but the floor mount is spot welded to the floor. I did cut that out. The way I did that is to plasma out the majority of the frame and then drilled out the spot welds. It looks like in your pictures that the top portion is removal and the floor mount is like the truck that I am working on. Hopefully someone else has removed that top piece.

yeah, thats what I meant was the top part. The drivers side is loose and can be pulled up a few inches, but it is rock solid in the middle. We were hoping it could be lifted up because it is a major PITA to reach in that small access hole under the seat and try to get a wrench on the nuts under there. I have been looking online the last couple of days and cant seem to find a definite answer one way or the other if it is even meant to be removed.

Yes, a guy can find it on Ebay pretty easily. I've got one and it actually is more 54 than pre but it helps lot when you get into the "how did they do that" questions.

Most guys take the seat riser out in a manner similar to what pgf545 said he did his.

I've take them out of pickups by using a torch to cut the main part of the riser out and an air chisel or hammer and chisel to get the rest out as I didn't have a spot weld cutter when I did them.

Sorry, I am not being very clear I didn't realize that so many people removed the entire riser!
For now, we just wanted to know if the top part of the riser (the part the seats are actually bolted to) is removable.
It looks like it is just a cover, and it is loose in one area:

Is this something Chevy meant to be opened? And if so, is there a trick to it? It doesn't look like it's welded (although I could very well have missed it)
