I need help on a lift for my 72!!!!!1
Hey guys i am totally restoring a 1972 chevy longbox 4x4 truck. I would like to do either a 6 or 8" lift on it but i dont know how that will hinder my steering or if i did do the 8" if i can do something to make it steer normal. Also i was thinking about getting so leafs from newer trucks that are longer like out of a 2004 chevy 1500 4x4 for the rear and maybe some s10 rear leafs that i stack up for support. The main key for me is to do it nice and make it strong but still ride nicely. I heard that many skinny leafs will ride better than like 4-5 thicker leafs. Any help guys? 6 inch will be fine i just want to fit either 25 or 37 and i will not be wheeling it hardly at all. Thanks

The s10 leafs would be for the front axel.... I wa sthink about maybe getting liek 10 of them and stacking them up. I am putting a 350 in the truck so i dont know if that will be able to support all that weight as well.

Do cross-over hydro assist steering,it help elimate bump steer. And just do a kit for a 72, that way you don't have to worry about moving the spring hanger or having the spring rates way off.

IM just going to agree and second with what has already been said... Crossover steering will help with the steering and definitely just get a lift for a 72... BTW think about a shackle flip in the rear.. less arch to the spring will get you more flex and a smoother ride

Not sure if price is a factor but you could always have some custom front springs made by Alcan or Deaver. They'll make them according to your specifications(towing, on/off road, firm/flexy, lift height, etc...) Either way, a call to them may answer some of your questions.
