Need a pair of 'truck' front fenders

O.K., so I tried widening the fenders 2 inches on by 52 Envoy/Burb and it didn't do the job. The tires still rub front and rear. I know I could radius those fenders, but I would like to try some 1-ton front fenders. Also, does anyone know what the difference is between the Chevy and GMC fenders? My truck is a GMC and I will keep it that way regardless of what I find, just curious.

The main difference in GMC to Chevy fenders is the shap by the top of the grill.

The only difference is the park light hole on 48-53. I am not sure about 54-55. The grille on the GMC just covers more. I think that you would have to go to the 1&1\2 ton to get the bigger fender. Jay

You need 1 1/2-2 ton fenders. The 54/55 is the same for GMC and Chevy just like the 47-53 (with noted light hole added to GMC). The top of the grill covers the fender but it is still the same fender underneath (with noted light hole added to GMC...)

I'm sure you can get a cheap front clip in probably excellent shape for a big bolt because lots of folks take them off. You'll need the hood, too, it is different and grill is wider.

Thanks Dan, didn't know about the hood, too. Does that mean it has to be GMC since the hood is different? And I'll have to use the wider grill as well?

The grill is not wider, it is taller. I am using a grill from a 1.5 ton in my half ton. Each bar is a little thicker, and spaced a little farther apart. I was not using a front bumper and I didn't care for the empty space it lift under the grill between the fenders, so I swaped grills and it looked beter. Had to drill some new holes to mount, thats it.

Cool, thats what I was hoping for. It will sit so low, I may lose a bar anyway even using the stock grill.

Yep, you'll need a GMC hood as well. The fenders come up higher on the cowls for the big bolts and the hood is trimmed down at the back edge, almost to a point, and it is about 4" longer because the whole front is longer. It almost fits over top of the 1/2 ton sheet metal. Not sure about inners, never paid attention. Not sure about core support but heard it is the same and my son says he's measured them both. We can do that, I've got a full '54 cab and nose from a 2 ton or so out here.

I don't know about the grill and how it compares with the smaller truck. Never measured one out. Didn't know anything about thicker. I can't help much on the GMC and I don't have a big bolt 47-53 to compare them either.

I have a bigger front end at the shop on a truck. I will make a few measurements to find out how much bigger the wheel opening is and get back to you!
