Look what I picked up- hint- 305 V6

Haven't decided what I am going to do with them just yet. I have cleaned them up since the pics. One is in great shape and the other has some dings in it. Guy said he had them in his garage for 15 years.

Nice!! I just fixed dents in my BBC valve covers using my el cheepo body hammer set and some dolly's. They turned out nicely; you can probably do the same to those covers.

Send them to me and I can fix the dents and put them on my v6 just to make sure they square with no leaks.

If I decide to part with them- you will be first on the list- fair enough?

Re: Look what I picked up- hint- 305 V6

+1 Dually jams, except with one modification: before you ship them to me, bolt a V6 up under them!

60apache; my understanding (someone correct me if I'm wrong), was that there was a warranty issue - rockers or similar, and they made the plaid valve covers to reinstall so they would know what engines had been worked on and what had not.

I agree with Bob Bray, this was a limited time promotional gimic for the new "E" series V6. They tried to link "E" with economy with thirftyness.

If nothing else they would make cool garage art hanging on the wall. One of those interesting conversation starters where you can just make up a different story each time to explain why they look that way!

Re: Look what I picked up- hint- 305 V6

Do you really think GMC is going to go thru all that expense just to indentify an engine on warranty work? Something that can easily be done with a cheap tag or stamping the protecto plate.

Yeah; seemed goofy to me, but I've seen stranger things done. The promotional thing makes more sense to me. Either way, sweet find. Has anyone ever seen a plaid oil pan - it would make for a complete set?

Re: Look what I picked up- hint- 305 V6

I got a set too. They will clean up real easy by simply using standard engine degreaser and a shop rag and or soft rag. The looks I got when I brough the truck out for a few cruise nights. MANY folks stopped by to seem them and we talk all night.

Re: Look what I picked up- hint- 305 V6

I have 2 sets. One came on my truck and 1 I bought off ebay. From what I've read they were only put on 63s and not all 63s got them.
