Changed ATF/filter, torque convert stopped locking up.

Hey guys, had a quick question for ya'll. I just got finished changing the ATF and filter on my 87' Silverado (700R4), and I've noticed that my torque converter is no longer locking up like it used to. In the mean time, I've been keeping it in D instead of OD.
Being a newb to these trucks, and not wanting to fry the tranny, I was hoping to get some advice as far as troubleshooting goes. What would you recommend checking first?

Make sure you are checking the fluid level correctly. Thats all i can really think of is yoru low or used the wrong fluid.
