78 stepside long box value? whats it worth?

I have a beloved 78 GMC step side longbox i want to sell but don't know what to ask. i think it is a rare variant as the step side long box wasn't a standard production as well as it is a 3/4 ton 4x4 with only 67k original miles? its kinda like having a rare dodge charger with a list of interesting options. but would people pay a lot if it was restored? hmmmm thats were you come in, what is the value of my ugly 1978 longstepper. thanks for your time.

it also has a 3 speed manual tranny and dual battery kit factory and dual tanks factory. the batterys are optimas too. also has a aftermarket holly carb and intake manifold if that is a deduction! thanks, chuck

thanks chuck... welcome to the best board on the net...'

hard to say on the truck... how's the rust?

finding someone to pay much more than $3,000 for a 78 truck will be hard in my opinion...

Re: 78 stepside long box value? whats it worth?

that truck is prolly worth in the $1500-1800 range maybe a tad more up by me.. these things dont hold alot of value here but in other parts of the country ( like where you are) it could go for considerably more like $2500-3000... if that were a four speed that would be worth alot more

Re: 78 stepside long box value? whats it worth?

Around here these were highway dept. trucks, 8' bed to carry posts, stepsides so that you couldn't overload them with gravel. An 80's something about in the shape you're describing was a no sell at $1300 a couple years back. They're rare but not much desired.
