Re: Single or Double??
Easiest way to tell is to look at the bolts that hold the top onto the bedsides.
If the bolts go down into the bedside you have a single wall. If the bolts go up into the top from under the bed railing you have a double wall. Another way to tell is if you have lights mounted to your top on near the rear side window. If you have a 72 and it's the stock top, it's likely a single wall. |

Re: Single or Double??
A lot of people like the single wall best because the bolts go down into the bed sides. If you have interior side panels in the cargo area you can install and remove the top without removing your side panels.

Re: Single or Double??
People also argue that single walls are noticeably lighter.......I doubt that based on their construction but I've never lifted a single off a truck before.
Quieter.....haven't heard that comparison before but I would think a dbl would be quieter if at all. |

Re: Single or Double??
If I didn't have side panels or never planned to take the top off, I would go with a double wall, just because I think it looks better on the inside.

Re: Single or Double??
Actually, the easiest way to tell the difference is if it has dome lights.
No Dome lights = double wall dome lights = singlewall

Or the plug for the lights behind the driver seat if you can't see the lights in some angles... |

Re: Single or Double??
The biggest issue i have seen with double wall tops is the warpage. Single wall tops don't seem to warp as bad if at all.
